Love is Love
Same-sex marriage has been legal in Australia since 9 December 2017. The legislation to allow same-sex marriage, the Marriage Amendment (Definition and Religious Freedoms) Act 2017, passed the Australian
Parliament on 7 December 2017 and received royal assent from the Governor-General the following day.
So while the larger community celebrated with rainbow parades and parties to begin with , a year later the controversy of this legal reform continues.
As well as a Bridal couturier involved in creating beautiful wedding gowns over the last 20 years I wanted to celebrate this event .
With a group of other creatives in the Bridal industry we planned a photoshoot that would confirm and celebrate what we know to be true and authentic. Love is Love and it takes many forms . We avoided stereotypes by aiming to create a visual feast of beauty and whimsy.
At the beautiful Wattle Park Chalet in Burwood we came together with our flair and ideas. Donna Lee Make Up Artistry was responsible for the co ordination of the shoot. She brought on board talented Amanda Kilbourn Photography and Wadehome videography to record the shoot . Hair By Marjorie Mayfair provides the vintage hairstyles for models Alecia McKenzie and Kristen Kostic. Elle Dee for Love_Alfalfa_Florals created hooped bouquets for our brides and Beryl Hedger of Forever yours flowers the floral headpieces. Kitty was our celebrant from Myweddingcelebrant who made us all smile with her anecdotes and easy charm.
Deborah Selleck Couture provided the 2 outfits you see. A lace jumpsuits for the contemporary bride and a tulle gown with beaded details. The effect was feminine and fun . The easy friendship between the girls created moments of pure magic!
We all aspire to marry our soul mate and best friend. The one you will travel the journey with you with love , joy and understanding.
So here is our tribute to “Love is Love” and May we all enjoy the fun and freedom of it! There is only one happiness in life. To love and to be loved
